I am absolutely delighted to have been chosen to be the Labour Party's Prospective Parliamentary candidate for Stockton North and would like to thank everyone who took part in the selection process over the last several months.

It is to our members' considerable credit that more than 70% of those eligible to vote did so and demonstrated that interest in politics in our constituency is very much alive. Over the coming weeks and months I hope to work with existing and potential new Labour Party members to further invigorate that interest, involve people even more and set up the large team that will both retain our own parliamentary seat and work to secure others too.

I have been given me a tremendous opportunity by Labour Party members to work for our community and country and rest assured my pledge to make the constituency my priority will be fulfilled. Next stage is ratification of the members' decision by the Party's National Executive after which the real work can begin.

We aim to keep the site up to date over the coming weeks as different material is produced and the process develops.
